Hummingbird by Siegfried Woldhek Image
Artist: Siegfried Woldhek, Netherlands
Size: 10.2 x 14.2
Watercolor print, Limited Edition. (#6 of 55 prints) The tiny rufous hummingbird, the smallest of the delta's migratory creatures, is a symbol of how remarkable and vulnerable life is on the delta, a thin strip of greenery between the ocean and the ice. The Copper River delta marks some of the most northern breeding latitudes of the rufous hummingbird. The classic grey mountain and skies on the delta and a drip of rain on a branch highlight the often inclement weather these small birds endure while breeding in the region. Featured on page 49 of Alaska's Copper River Delta publication.
