Rocks by Nuchek at Sunset by David Rosenthal Image
Artist: David Rosenthal, Cordova, AK
Size: 9 x 7 inches
Original Watercolor. Nuchek is located on Hinchinbrook Island at Port Etches bay, Prince William Sound. It is situated approximately 50 miles (80 km) to the west of the mouth of Copper River.
David Rosenthal is a local Cordova artist. His artwork captures a sense of place and connection to our changing landscapes, particularly changes to many of the glaciers on the Copper River delta. A merging of science and art, David is also famous for his use of blues.
"Rosenthal’s art is the expression of emotion and empathy towards climate change. Coupled with science as the foundation of the scene and the importance it plays in the natural world, the blue canvases are testimony. For the last forty-plus years, Rosenthal has slowly but intentionally documented the end of the last Ice Age with every stroke of his brush and every line of ink. He battles time, as do the glaciers he so loves."-Nick Cramblit
